Education: Received Batchelor of Fine Arts, Rutgers University 2006

Artist, painter, jewelry designer and creator of Lady Sea Wench Designs, Sandra Mott lives and creates her artwork in the beautiful beach towns of Santa Teresa and Mal Pais, Costa Rica. Painted on found wood, her pieces are incredibly detailed, delicate and powerful. Popular amongst both locals and tourists alike, her exhibitions are often sold out on opening night. Luckily her pieces are available in prints for those of us too late to snap up one of her incredible paintings, and private commissioned pieces are also available upon request for those of us with time to wait.

“Born in Southern California, I grew up in New Jersey, and now reside in the small beach/jungle town of Santa Teresa in Costa Rica. My love for all three of these places has always helped to fuel my imagination and constantly keeps my creative juices flowing. I am a freelance artist by profession with a BFA from Rutgers University.

I like to create art that is both fun and unique, incorporating my love of adventure, art deco, art nouveau, and legends of the sea. Places such as the old seaside amusement parks of New Jersey, the jungles and beaches of Costa Rica, and the lovely island of Catalina in California are all a constant source of inspiration for me.

My paintings are inspired by everything adventurous, mystical, and weird. They are a mix of dark and light: a kind of East coast meets West coast style. They are stories of the ocean, the jungle, the Wild West, rock ‘n roll, motorcycles, seaside amusements, and folklore.

Everything I make has a story behind it, and I make every piece worthy of being kept for myself.

I hope you enjoy my pieces as much as I enjoyed creating them.”
